NEW JERSEY, October 29, 2026 — New Jersey residents and businesses can now track the progress of selected state permit applications through a new online dashboard designed to improve transparency and make the permitting process easier to follow.

Governor Mikie Sherrill announced the launch of the New Jersey Permitting Dashboard on October 28 as part of the state’s efforts to modernize government services and reduce delays in reviewing permit applications.

The dashboard initially includes ten pilot projects being reviewed by three state agencies: the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), the Department of Transportation (DOT), and the Department of Community Affairs (DCA).

Through the online platform, users can follow the progress of these projects as they move through different stages of the state review process. The administration plans to expand the dashboard to include additional projects in the coming months.

The governor’s office also reported progress in reducing permit backlogs. Since January, the Department of Environmental Protection has reduced its backlog of freshwater wetlands determination requests by 74 percent. During the same period, the Department of Transportation reduced its backlog of minor access permits by 83 percent. These permits generally involve smaller connections between private properties and state roads.

State officials say the new dashboard is intended to provide greater visibility into the permitting process, helping applicants understand where projects stand and making state reviews more transparent.

However, the system is still in its pilot phase and does not yet provide information on every permit application submitted in New Jersey.

Residents, businesses, and developers can access the dashboard at Permits.NJ.gov.
