NEW JERSEY — Sunday brought cloudy, cool and unsettled weather across much of New Jersey, with scattered showers moving through different parts of the state during the afternoon.

Temperatures generally stayed in the low to mid-60s Fahrenheit, roughly 15 to 18 degrees Celsius, while winds came mainly from the east and northeast. Rainfall was mostly light, but persistent cloud cover kept the day damp and gray.

Conditions varied by location, with northern and central New Jersey seeing intermittent showers and coastal areas also dealing with breezier northeast winds. The National Weather Service said most locations were expected to receive only small amounts of rainfall.

The outlook improves on Monday. Skies are expected to gradually clear, with mostly sunny conditions developing across much of the state. High temperatures should reach the upper 60s to around 70 degrees, although northwest winds could become gusty in some areas.

Tuesday is expected to bring cooler but sunny weather, followed by a gradual warming trend later in the week.

Residents, particularly those near the coast, should continue to follow local forecasts for any changes in wind, rain or coastal conditions.
