Dr. Praeger’s Sensible Foods is preparing to eliminate 168 jobs at its Elmwood Park facility in Bergen County as the frozen-food company moves its production operations from New Jersey to Kentucky.
Production Leaving New Jersey
The company plans to shift manufacturing from Elmwood Park to Kentucky early next year. The move will affect 168 employees at the New Jersey production facility.
Dr. Praeger’s is known for frozen vegetarian and plant-based products, including veggie burgers, bowls and other prepared foods.
Headquarters Will Remain in Bergen County
Although manufacturing is leaving the state, Dr. Praeger’s says it is not leaving New Jersey entirely. The company will continue to maintain its headquarters in Bergen County and plans to move into a new corporate office in early 2027.
The decision therefore separates the company’s manufacturing operations from its corporate presence: production will move to Kentucky while its headquarters remain in North Jersey.
Another Significant Bergen County Job Loss
The elimination of 168 positions adds to a series of layoffs and facility changes reported across New Jersey during 2026. State WARN records show numerous employers have announced workforce reductions this year, including companies in Bergen and neighboring counties.
For Elmwood Park and the surrounding Bergen County area, the Dr. Praeger’s decision represents a significant loss of local manufacturing jobs.
