The U.S. Mint has issued a special 50-cent coin marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
The 2026 Enduring Liberty Half Dollar carries a special privy mark featuring the date of the attacks surrounded by the words “NEVER FORGET.” The coin was announced ahead of the September 11 anniversary and is now available for pre-sale through the U.S. Mint.
“As we approach the 25th anniversary of September 11, we honor the memory of those we lost and the courage of those who risked their lives to save their fellow Americans,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said. He added that, a quarter-century later, the nation’s promise to the victims and their families remains unchanged: “we will never forget.”
The front of the Enduring Liberty Half Dollar features a close-up image of the Statue of Liberty, while the reverse shows Liberty passing her torch to a new generation. The special 9/11 edition was struck at the U.S. Mint facility in West Point, New York.
Last month, the Mint also presented 2,983 special-issue coins to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum — one honoring each victim of the September 11, 2001 attacks and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.
