New Jersey officials announced Monday that Amneal Pharmaceuticals plans to invest more than $240 million in expanding its manufacturing operations in Piscataway, creating over 330 new full-time jobs.
State Approves $60 Million in Tax Incentives
The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) has approved approximately $60.56 million in tax credits over five years through the Next New Jersey Manufacturing Program.
The incentives will support Amneal Pharmaceuticals’ planned investment of more than $240 million over the next three years.
Expansion of Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
The project includes renovations to eight buildings that will form an integrated manufacturing campus in Piscataway.
The expanded facilities will support the production of pharmaceutical products, including transdermal patches, injectable medicines, and biosimilars, which are biological medicines designed to be highly similar to existing approved treatments.
The project will also expand quality control and logistics operations.
Amneal Pharmaceuticals, headquartered in Bridgewater, was founded in Paterson in 2002 by brothers Chirag and Chintu Patel.
Today, the company produces hundreds of pharmaceutical products and supplies more than 160 million prescriptions annually.
Governor Sherrill Welcomes the Investment
Governor Mikie Sherrill welcomed the company’s decision to expand in New Jersey, emphasizing the state’s effort to attract businesses through targeted tax incentives and policies designed to reduce business costs.
State officials say the expansion will strengthen New Jersey’s pharmaceutical manufacturing industry while supporting domestic medicine production.
The announcement also reflects the state’s broader effort to attract private investment and create manufacturing jobs.
The 330-plus jobs are projected positions associated with the expansion, rather than jobs already created.
