More than 100 teenagers gathered in a residential neighborhood in Ridgewood, Bergen County, on Saturday night, October 24, prompting police from multiple towns to respond. During the incident, a homeowner’s fence was destroyed as dozens of teenagers fled the area.

The gathering took place in the 600 block of Wall Street, where residents contacted police after noticing large groups of young people gathering near their homes.

According to reports published Sunday, Ridgewood police requested assistance from at least two neighboring police departments to help disperse the crowd.

As officers arrived, approximately 100 teenagers ran through a nearby backyard, trampling and completely destroying a fence.

No other significant property damage or disorderly conduct was reported.

Teenager Receives Emergency Assistance

During the incident, Ridgewood firefighters and emergency medical personnel responded to help a 17-year-old who experienced a medical episode while leaving the area.

The teenager declined medical treatment and was taken home to Wyckoff by a parent.

No arrests were reported in the available accounts.

Second Large Gathering in Two Weekends

Saturday’s incident followed a similar gathering on October 17, when approximately 200 teenagers assembled near Heights Road and Monte Vista Avenue in Ridgewood.

That gathering also prompted calls from concerned homeowners and required assistance from police departments in Glen Rock, Midland Park and Wyckoff.

During the earlier incident, a 15-year-old who reportedly consumed excessive alcohol was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital.

Despite the large crowd, no significant property damage was reported during that gathering.

Concerns in Residential Neighborhoods

The two incidents have drawn attention to large gatherings of teenagers in residential areas and the challenges they create for residents and local authorities.

While the gatherings involved substantial numbers of young people, the reported damage was limited, and authorities have not announced arrests in connection with either incident.

It remains unclear whether the two gatherings were organized events or spontaneous meetups.
