An NJ Transit bus crashed into a home in Englewood early Thursday morning, sending the driver to the hospital and prompting an emergency response near Route 4.
NJ Transit officials said the crash happened at about 5:45 a.m. on October 8, shortly after a bus assigned to the 166 lineleft the Oradell garage. The bus was heading toward Van Nostrand Avenue and Grand Avenue to begin its route when it left the roadway and struck a house.
There were no passengers on board at the time of the crash.
The driver was taken to a local hospital. Officials had not released details about the extent of the driver’s injuries as of Thursday morning.
Video from the scene showed the bus across the front lawn of the property after hitting the side of the house. Police, firefighters and other emergency crews responded to the scene while officials worked to remove the bus and assess the damage.
Authorities had not yet said whether anyone was inside the house at the time or whether any residents were injured.
The Englewood Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash, which remained unknown Thursday morning.
The incident caused an unusual scene during the early-morning commute in Bergen County, with emergency crews working near one of Englewood’s busiest areas.
