SOMERSET COUNTY, N.J. — Seven police vehicles across Somerset County have been wrapped in pink this October as part of a countywide campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The vehicles are being used at community events throughout the month to draw attention to the importance of breast cancer screenings and early detection. The campaign includes the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, Somerset County Sheriff’s Office and police departments in Far Hills, Peapack-Gladstone, Franklin Township, Watchung and Bedminster.
The pink cruisers are designed to be more than a visual symbol. Each vehicle includes a QR code that residents can scan to schedule a mammogram, giving the awareness campaign a direct connection to preventive care.
The vehicles were officially unveiled Oct. 1 outside the Somerset County Historic Courthouse in Somerville. Funding for the pink wraps came from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset, Peapack Private Bank & Trust, Open Road Auto Group and the Far Hills Race Meeting Association.
The campaign is part of a broader series of Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities taking place across New Jersey throughout October, with hospitals and local organizations encouraging residents to prioritize routine screenings and early detection.
Somerset County has used pink police vehicles in previous years as well, turning highly visible law-enforcement vehicles into moving reminders about breast cancer awareness and access to screening.
