A migrant caravan numbering in the hundreds is moving north through Mexico after departing Honduras on September 20, with some members of the group saying they hope to eventually reach the United States.

According to Fox News, the caravan includes migrants from several countries, including Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Ecuador and Haiti. The group crossed into Mexico and has continued moving north.

The Department of Homeland Security said U.S. Border Patrol is monitoring the caravan’s movement in coordination with international partners.

DHS also warned that anyone attempting to cross the U.S. border illegally could face arrest, prosecution and removal.

The caravan’s size may change as people join or leave the group during the journey, so officials and media reports have generally described it as numbering in the hundreds.

The movement comes as U.S. immigration enforcement remains a major national policy issue, with the Trump administration continuing to emphasize tighter border controls and increased removals.

For now, officials have not said when or whether the caravan will reach the U.S.-Mexico border.
