NJ Transit is warning passengers to prepare for possible service disruptions this weekend as a powerful nor’easter moves through New Jersey.
The agency says it is closely monitoring the storm and is advising customers to check NJTransit.com and the NJ Transit mobile app for real-time updates before traveling. Riders are also being asked to allow extra time for their trips.
Alerts Across Multiple Rail Lines
Weather-related alerts are currently posted across several NJ Transit rail lines, including the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line, Raritan Valley Line, Morris & Essex, Montclair-Boonton, Main-Bergen County, Pascack Valley and Atlantic City Rail Line.
NJ Transit has also issued a broader service advisory for Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27, warning that the storm could affect service as conditions change.
Light Rail Also Under Weather Advisory
The warning also extends to NJ Transit’s light rail systems, including the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, Newark Light Rail and River Line.
The agency is not announcing a systemwide shutdown at this time, but it is warning that weather conditions could cause delays, changes or interruptions.
Riders Told to Check Before Leaving
With heavy rain, strong winds and coastal flooding expected in parts of New Jersey, conditions could change quickly.
NJ Transit’s message to passengers is simple: check the status of your route before leaving, allow extra travel time and continue
