Twelve people were injured, including six minors, following a shooting near Florida A&M University in Tallahassee on Saturday evening, October 24, during homecoming celebrations. One victim remains in critical condition.

According to police, 11 people suffered gunshot wounds, while a twelfth person was injured while attempting to escape the scene.

Among the victims were six minors, with the youngest reportedly just 11 years old.

Police Investigate What Led to the Shooting

Tallahassee police responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Perry Street and Manatee Street, near the university campus.

Investigators believe an argument involving several individuals may have preceded the shooting, although the exact circumstances remain under investigation.

As of Sunday morning, October 25, no arrests had been announced.

Authorities have not publicly identified the victims or confirmed a motive.

Several Victims Remain Hospitalized

According to local reports, five of the injured have been released from the hospital, while six remain hospitalized and one is in critical condition.

The shooting caused panic among people attending homecoming celebrations, an annual event that brings students, alumni, families and visitors together.

Florida A&M University officials emphasized that the shooting occurred near the campus rather than inside university buildings.

The university said the campus was secure following the incident.

Investigation Continues

Police are working to determine who was responsible for the gunfire and what led to the confrontation.

The shooting has raised concerns about public safety during large university celebrations, particularly because several children were among those injured.

Authorities are expected to release additional information as the investigation continues.
