A prominent piece of Atlantic City real estate has reportedly been sold, as Mayor Marty Small Sr. announced that a buyer has purchased the former Trump Plaza Hotel & Casino property along the city’s famous Boardwalk.

The announcement marks a potential new chapter for a site that once housed one of Atlantic City’s best-known casinos and has remained vacant since the building’s demolition in 2021.

According to reporting by Wayne Parry, the identity of the buyer and the final purchase price have not yet been publicly disclosed.

A Former Atlantic City Landmark

Trump Plaza Hotel & Casino opened in May 1984 and became one of the city’s recognizable casino properties during the expansion of Atlantic City’s gambling industry.

Located along the Boardwalk, the property operated for more than three decades before closing in September 2014 amid financial difficulties and increasing competition.

Its closure was part of a difficult period for Atlantic City, when several casinos shut down as the regional gambling market changed.

Demolished in 2021

After years of deterioration, the former Trump Plaza building was demolished through a controlled implosion in February 2021.

The demolition attracted national attention as spectators watched the once-prominent casino collapse in seconds.

The event symbolized the end of an era for Atlantic City and removed a long-vacant building from a highly visible location near the Boardwalk.

Since then, the property has remained largely undeveloped.

New Owner, Uncertain Future

Mayor Marty Small’s announcement suggests the property could finally move toward redevelopment.

However, important questions remain unanswered.

The buyer’s identity has not been disclosed, the purchase price remains unknown, and no official redevelopment plan has been announced.

It is also unclear whether the new owner intends to pursue another casino-related project, a hotel, residential development, entertainment facilities, or another commercial use.

What Could the Sale Mean for Atlantic City?

The property occupies a prominent location in Atlantic City’s tourism and entertainment district.

A future development could bring new investment and economic activity to the area, although its potential impact will depend on the plans ultimately proposed and approved.

For now, the reported sale represents a possible turning point for one of the city’s most recognizable former casino sites.

Further details are expected as information about the new owner and future development plans becomes available.
