Governor Mikie Sherrill kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month with a visit to El Rincon Del Sabor, a Hispanic-owned business in Mays Landing.
In a post Thursday, Sherrill highlighted the role Hispanic and Latino entrepreneurs play in New Jersey’s economy, saying the state is home to more than 180,000 Hispanic- and Latino-owned businesses contributing more than $127 billion to the economy.
The governor said her administration wants to make it easier for entrepreneurs to start and expand businesses by reducing regulatory barriers and simplifying government processes.
The visit comes as Hispanic Heritage Month, observed from September 15 through October 15, recognizes the history, culture and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities across the United States.
New Jersey has also been working on broader efforts to streamline its permitting system. Earlier this year, the Sherrill administration launched a pilot permitting dashboard aimed at reducing delays and improving coordination for businesses and development projects.
