Two people are in critical condition following a serious crash on the Cross Island Parkway in Whitestone, Queens.
The crash involved two vehicles near Exit 36 on the northbound Cross Island Parkway, close to the Whitestone Expressway and the approach to the Whitestone Bridge. One of the vehicles overturned. Emergency medical crews responded to the scene, according to initial reports.
The two vehicles were described in emergency radio traffic as a black Honda Civic and a black Honda Accord. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those injured or additional details about their conditions.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
