Spider-Man: Brand New Day is on the verge of making franchise history. The latest film starring Tom Holland is expected to become the highest-grossing Spider-Man movie ever this weekend, overtaking Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The milestone would come only weeks after the movie’s release, following an extraordinary box-office run that has already made it one of the biggest films of 2026.
A Record-Breaking Run
Brand New Day opened with historic numbers.
Its final North American opening weekend reached about $360 million, edging past Avengers: Endgame for the biggest domestic opening ever, while its worldwide debut came in at roughly $932 million.
By its second weekend, the movie had already climbed to about $1.67 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film of 2026 at that point.
More recent reports now place the film at roughly $1.8 billion globally, putting it within striking distance of the lifetime theatrical total of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
‘No Way Home’ Has Held the Spider-Man Crown
Released in 2021, Spider-Man: No Way Home became a cultural phenomenon and the most commercially successful Spider-Man film in history.
The film benefited from the return of previous Spider-Man stars and villains while continuing Tom Holland’s version of Peter Parker.
Now, Brand New Day appears ready to take that crown.
DiscussingFilm reported Thursday that the movie is expected to pass No Way Home during the upcoming weekend, which would officially make it the highest-grossing Spider-Man film ever worldwide.
Tom Holland’s Fourth Spider-Man Film
Brand New Day marks Holland’s fourth solo outing as Spider-Man.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film continues Peter Parker’s story after the events of No Way Home, with the world having forgotten his identity.
Zendaya also returns as MJ, while the movie has introduced new characters and storylines that appear designed to connect Spider-Man more deeply with the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Could $2 Billion Be Next?
Passing No Way Home may not be the film’s final milestone.
With the movie still performing strongly in theaters, Brand New Day is now approaching the rare $2 billion worldwidemark.
Only a small number of films in cinema history have ever reached that level.
For Spider-Man, however, the immediate record is clear: if current projections hold, by the end of this weekend there could be a new king of the franchise.
