Spider-Man: Brand New Day has crossed another extraordinary box-office milestone, surpassing $2 billion worldwide in only three weeks and cementing itself as one of the biggest theatrical releases in movie history.
The Tom Holland-led superhero film remained at the top of the North American box office this weekend, adding roughly $70 million domestically and bringing its North American total to about $785.8 million. Its worldwide earnings have now moved beyond the $2 billion mark.
The achievement is particularly notable because only a small number of films have ever crossed $2 billion globally.
A record-breaking run from the start
Brand New Day showed signs of becoming a massive hit almost immediately.
The film opened with approximately $932 million worldwide during its first weekend, including a record-setting domestic debut. It crossed $1 billion globally in just six days and reached around $1.67 billion by its second weekend.
By August 5, Variety reported that the film had already become the highest-grossing movie of 2026, reaching that position after only seven days in theaters.
Now, less than three weeks after its release, the movie has crossed the $2 billion threshold.
Spider-Man enters an elite box-office club
Reaching $2 billion puts Brand New Day alongside some of the most commercially successful movies ever released.
Previous films to reach or surpass the milestone include Avatar, Avengers: Endgame, Avatar: The Way of Water, Titanic, Ne Zha 2, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avengers: Infinity War.
The achievement is also particularly significant for the Spider-Man franchise.
Its predecessor, Spider-Man: No Way Home, finished its original theatrical run just below $2 billion worldwide. Brand New Day has now passed that mark in only a matter of weeks.
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man shows no signs of slowing down
The movie marks Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing as Peter Parker and reunites him with Zendaya as MJ.
Its massive performance has helped make 2026 an unusually strong year for movie theaters, alongside Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which has also crossed the $1 billion mark globally.
And Brand New Day is still playing in theaters.
With its worldwide total already above $2 billion, the question is no longer whether it will become one of the biggest Spider-Man films ever.
It already has.
The next question is how high it can go before its theatrical run ends.
