Democratic congressional candidate Rebecca Bennett has launched her first television advertisement of the general election campaign in New Jersey’s closely watched 7th Congressional District, where she is challenging Republican Rep. Tom Kean Jr.
The new ad focuses on Bennett’s background as a U.S. Navy veteran and presents ethics and public service as central themes of her campaign.
In the spot, Bennett says she will not accept corporate PAC money and highlights her decision to sell individual stocks, arguing that members of Congress should not be able to personally benefit from information or influence connected to their public office.
The ad is also an effort to introduce Bennett to voters who may not yet know her well ahead of the November election. Her campaign is trying to draw a contrast between her military background and ethics message and Kean’s record in Congress.
New Jersey’s 7th District has been one of the state’s most competitive congressional seats in recent election cycles and is expected to receive significant national attention this fall. The district includes communities across parts of northern and central New Jersey, making it a key battleground in the broader fight for control of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Kean currently holds the seat and is seeking another term, while Bennett is hoping to flip the district for Democrats.
The release of Bennett’s first general election television ad signals that the race is moving into a more intense phase, with both campaigns expected to increase advertising, fundraising and voter outreach as Election Day approaches.
The general election will be held on November 3, 2026.
