A line of fast-moving storms brought flooding to parts of New Jersey and New York City on Sunday morning, leaving several drivers stranded in rising water.
In Newark, firefighters responded to reports of vehicles stuck near Frelinghuysen Avenue and Meeker Avenue, where flooding made the roadway dangerous.
Firefighters used an inflatable raft to rescue three drivers from their vehicles, according to ABC7 Eyewitness News.
The same storm system also caused problems across New York City. Two vehicles became trapped near Exit 5 of the Clearview Expressway in Queens, while portions of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and Long Island Expressway were temporarily closed because of flooding.
No injuries were reported in the Newark rescues.
The incident is another reminder of how quickly heavy summer storms can overwhelm roadways, particularly in flood-prone areas.
