A dramatic surveillance video from Gdańsk, Poland, shows the moment a passenger train crashed into a truck that had become trapped on a railway crossing.

The collision happened on September 3 at the Gdańsk-Lipce railway crossing. The truck entered the crossing but became stuck between the lowered barriers as an approaching train drew closer.

Video from the scene shows people nearby trying to alert the truck driver and signaling that he should force his way through the barrier to clear the tracks. Instead, the driver appears to hesitate and attempts to maneuver the truck before finally trying to move forward. By then, the train was too close to stop.

The train then slammed into the truck’s trailer at high speed, destroying much of the vehicle and scattering debris across the crossing.

According to reports, the passenger train was traveling from Gdynia toward Zielona Góra and was carrying around 250 passengers at the time of the crash. The train driver was taken to a hospital, while no fatalities were reported.

Authorities said the truck driver survived, and there were no reports of serious injuries among passengers.

The video quickly spread across social media, drawing attention not only because of the force of the impact but also because of the seconds leading up to the crash.

Rail safety authorities regularly warn drivers that if a vehicle becomes trapped between lowered crossing gates, the safest action is usually to drive through the barrier and get off the tracks immediately rather than remain in the path of an approaching train.

The incident is now being investigated by Polish authorities.
