President Donald Trump has posted a video showing himself crossing out the name “Lake Ontario” on a map and writing “Lake America” in its place.
The video, shared on Trump’s TikTok account and later circulated widely on social media, shows him seated at a desk with a map in front of him as he uses a marker to alter the lake’s name.
The clip quickly drew attention because it appeared only days after Trump publicly said he was considering changing the name of Lake Ontario amid renewed tensions with Canada.
The move is not an official legal renaming of the lake, but rather a symbolic and political gesture shared through social media. Still, the image of a U.S. president physically crossing out the name of one of North America’s Great Lakes and replacing it with “Lake America” has made the video one of the more unusual moments in the ongoing dispute.
The video has also been widely reposted by news and political accounts, including Clash Report on X, where the clip continued to circulate Thursday morning.
