NEW JERSEY — Residents across parts of New Jersey should prepare for another round of unsettled weather as the National Weather Service warns that heavy thunderstorms and localized flash flooding are possible throughout today and into the evening.
Forecasters say the atmosphere remains extremely humid and unstable, creating conditions that could produce intense downpours in a short period of time. Some areas may also experience strong wind gusts and frequent lightning as thunderstorms move across the state.
Meteorologists are paying particularly close attention to northeastern New Jersey, including Bergen County and the greater New York City area, where the risk of urban flooding is elevated. The concern comes after recent storms left the ground saturated, meaning additional heavy rainfall could quickly overwhelm drainage systems and lead to flooding on roads and in low-lying areas.
Drivers are urged to use extra caution, avoid flooded roadways, and never attempt to drive through standing water, as conditions can change rapidly during heavy rainfall.
Residents are encouraged to monitor the latest weather updates throughout the day, as additional watches or warnings may be issued if storms intensify.
